UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) was among dozens of University and community sponsors that participated in the State College Pride Parade and Festival on June 7.
“We are proud to once again support Pride,” said Andrea Tapia, dean of the College of IST. “I’m thrilled that our students, staff, faculty and friends can contribute to the joyful energy and positive vibes that make this event so special.”
Passing out candy and college swag to thousands of parade spectators, the IST participants donned "Be You in Tech" Pride t-shirts and accessorized with a colorful assortment of hats, sunglasses, jewelry, flags and balloons.
Hosted annually by Centre LGBT+, State College Pride features events throughout June to engage the community for National Pride Month. This year, participants can get creative with rainbows and other Pride flag colors during a bake-off, a storefront competition and a pet contest.
